Plunge, Full Coverage, Contour, Minimizer, Push-Up: Bra Styles Decoded

SHAPE Floral Bra and Panty Set in beige showing lace detail

The short answer: Plunge for a deep neckline, full coverage for a fuller bust, contour for a rounded shape, minimizer for a smaller line, push-up for lift with a wire. Each style solves a different problem. Here is what they do and when to reach for each one.

When you walk into a bra shop and see ten styles, it is hard to know where to start. This guide breaks each type down by what it actually does.

Bra styles at a glance

Style What it does Best for SHAPE option
Plunge Low-cut centre, angled cups Deep V-necks, wrap dresses Plunge Lite
Full coverage Cups cover most or all tissue Fuller busts, everyday support Sure Cover Bra
Contour / Moulded Pre-shaped cups, rounded line Smooth shape under any fabric Seamless Contour Bra
Minimizer Reduces projection without compressing Structured blazers, hijab, high-neck kameez Mesh Minimizer Bra
Push-up Graduated padding and wire lift bust inward and up Low necklines, fitted tops Comfort Curve Bra

Seamless vs wired

SHAPE's lineup is mostly seamless: no wire, no visible seam lines, heat-pressed cups. The one exception is the Comfort Curve, which uses a wire and graduated padding for push-up lift. Most women find seamless more comfortable for daily wear; wired gives more defined shaping for specific outfits.

How to choose

  1. Start with the outfit: What are you wearing over the bra? Thin fabric needs seamless. Deep neckline needs plunge. Structured top needs a minimiser.
  2. Then the shape you want: Rounded? Contour. Lifted? Push-up. Smaller line? Minimiser. Natural? Air.
  3. Then the size: Between sizes on seamless, go up one. On push-up (Comfort Curve), go by your exact cup measurement.

Questions women ask us

Which type is best for everyday?

A seamless bra with medium padding covers most outfits and most days. The Signature Seamless and the T-Shirt Bra are the two most common everyday picks in our stores.

Can a minimiser flatten my bust?

It reduces projection, not volume. It reshapes without compressing. Think of it as a smoother silhouette, not a flattened one.

Is plunge only for going out?

No. A plunge works for any outfit with a lower neckline, including everyday wrap tops and V-neck kameez. It is about the neckline, not the occasion.
