Girl Talk: 51,000 Women, One Private Space
The short answer: Girl Talk is SHAPE's private Facebook community. Over 51,000 women use it to ask real questions about bras, bodies and comfort that they would not ask in a public space. It is free to join, moderated for safety, and no one will try to sell you anything inside it.
I started Girl Talk because the conversation women have in our fitting rooms should not stop at the door.
In a fitting room, a woman will say things she does not say anywhere else. 'My left side is bigger.' 'I have not bought a bra in three years.' 'I do not know what size I am.' These are not complaints. They are real questions that deserve real answers.
What happens inside Girl Talk
- Questions without judgment. 'Is it normal for straps to slip?' 'Should I go up a size after Eid?' 'Which bra works under a white kameez?' No question is too basic.
- Honest reviews. Women share what they bought, what fits, what did not, and why. These are not curated testimonials. They are real experiences.
- Size and fit help. Members help each other figure out sizing, share measurement tips, and recommend styles.
- A space for bodies. Weight changes, life stages, first bras for daughters, post-pregnancy fit. The group holds space for all of it.
Why a private group
Because bra talk is private. In Bangladesh, most women do not discuss bras openly, even with close friends. 44% of women in our survey said they feel embarrassed buying bras. A private group where your friends list cannot see your posts or comments removes the biggest barrier to asking.
How to join

- Answer the two membership questions (they help us keep the group safe).
- A moderator approves your request, usually within 24 hours.
Questions women ask us
Will anyone from my friends list see that I joined?
No. Girl Talk is a private group. Your membership and your posts are visible only to other members.
Is it only for SHAPE buyers?
No. Any woman who wants to learn about bras, sizing, or comfort is welcome. You do not have to own a SHAPE bra to join or participate.
Is there selling inside the group?
No direct selling. The group is for conversation, not commerce. If SHAPE launches something new, we share it the same way a member would: a post, not an ad. Our story explains why we built the brand this way.
